Comments: We are still skiing up here! The weather held out nicely last week and allowed for great skiing between the early morning icy snow and softer afternoon/evening snow. All trails are still open and groomed except the west end of Logging Camp Trail, BWCA Logging Camp section, North-South link from upper Beaver Dam to Summer Home Road, and Poplar Creek Trail.
Due to the warm weather prior to last week, we are not crossing Flour or Aspen lakes with the groomers for the remainder of the season (the ice is still plenty safe for skiing). The North-South Link trail across Flour Lake has a single lane classic track set by snowmobile to allow for a connection between the north and south halves of the system.
Unless we receive additional snowfall, we will not be grooming anymore after this weekend. If we receive more than a couple of inches of new snow, we will likely do one more grooming on select trails.
Remember that it’s spring now and conditions can and do change daily depending on weather. For the most up to date trail conditions, please contact Golden Eagle Lodge (1-800-346-2203) or Bearskin Lodge (1-800-338-4170). Central Gunflint Ski Pass required.
